Third Generation Barbeque Company Wins Family Business Award

Cary, NC- December 5, 2019 – Craig B. Wood, Executive Vice President of Brookwood Farms Inc. and third-generation businessman, accepted The Family Business Award given by Triangle Business Journal.

The multi-generation barbeque manufacturing company was recognized for achievement and innovation in the extra-large business category. The company celebrates 35 years of increased sales and tonnage this month.

“The benefits of running a family business is taking time to turn around and look at what you are working with, and it’s you son or your daughter, and what an amazing opportunity it is to carry on the passion that my dad had, being in the food business, smoking meats and enjoying his passion for BBQ. Every day I pinch myself,” said Craig Wood, Brookwood Farms Vice President and award winner.
This year marks the fourth awards ceremony hosted by Tringle Business Journal. The Publication recognizes businesses across North Carolina for excellence, innovation, ethics, philanthropy and contribution to the strength of the region. The Family Business awards honored 12 Family owned and operated business’ ranging from 2 employees to 500.

Brookwood Farms Inc., located in Siler City, NC, embodies the legacy of bringing the nostalgic flavors of real-pit-cooked Southern barbeque to homes and restaurants. Jerry Wood Jr. founded Brookwood Farms in 1978, and forty years and two generations later, brothers Twig and Craig Wood carry on the tradition alongside their children. The Barbeque company continues to expand, with the capacity to smoke over 150,000 pounds of meat a night in 300 yards of charcoal pits.

Craig closed his acceptance speech on Thursday with, “We consider our entire company our family, our moto is, One Family, One Story, One Goal”.
